How We Do Paint Correction

  • Step 1: Inspection and Walkaround

We start by looking at your paint in proper lighting so we can really see what is going on. Swirls, haze, water spots, and light scratches all show up under the lights. We will walk around the car with you when possible so you know exactly what we are seeing and what we are targeting.

  • Step 2: Deep Clean and Decontamination

Before we ever touch a polisher, your car gets a thorough wash and decontamination. We remove road film, bugs, and old wax, then use clay and other products to pull out embedded stuff like rail dust and fallout. This gives us a clean, smooth surface to work on so the polish can actually do its job.

  • Step 3: Test Spot and Game Plan

Every car and every paint system is a little different, so we do a test spot first. We try different pad and polish combos to see what gives the best results without being too aggressive. Once we dial that in, we build a game plan and repeat that process around the whole vehicle.

  • Step 4: Correction Passes

This is where the real magic happens. Using machine polishers, matching pads, and quality compounds, we carefully level out swirls, light scratches, and haze. We move panel by panel, checking our work as we go, so you’re getting real improvement and not just a shiny cover up.

  • Step 5: Finishing Polish and Wipe Down

After the heavier correction work is done, we follow up with a finishing polish to bring out extra clarity and gloss. Then we do a full wipe down to remove leftover polish oils, so you can see the true condition of the paint. This is when colors start to really pop and reflections look crisp.

  • Step 6: Protection Options

Once your paint is looking sharp, we talk about how you want to protect it. Many drivers in Myrtle Beach choose ceramic coating so the fresh finish is easier to maintain. Whatever you choose, we’ll walk you through the options, so you leave Classic Tint and Coatings with a plan to keep your paint looking its best.

Read Our Paint Correction FAQs

  • What is paint correction, and how is it different from just buffing?

Paint correction is a careful process where we polish your clear coat to remove or significantly reduce swirls, light scratches, oxidation, and haze. It’s not a quick “buff and shine” that just hides defects for a little while. We use proper tools, lighting, and polishing steps to actually level the surface, so it looks smoother and glossier. The goal is to fix what you’re seeing in the paint, not just cover it up for a week.

  • How do I know if my car needs paint correction?

If you see spiderweb swirls in the sun, dull patches, or a cloudy look in your clear coat, your car is a great candidate for paint correction. You might notice your paint looks fine in the shade but rough and scratched in bright light. That’s a sign the clear coat has been beat up by bad washes, sun, and daily driving. Bring it by and we’ll take a look with proper lighting, so you’ll see exactly what we can clean up.

  • Will paint correction take care of every scratch on my car?

Paint correction can dramatically improve the look of your paint, but it can’t fix everything. If a scratch is deep enough to catch a fingernail or you can see primer or metal, that’s beyond what polishing can safely fix. What we can do is reduce the look of many defects and clean up all the fine swirls and haze that make your paint look tired. We’ll always be honest about what can and can’t be improved before we start.

  • How long do the results from paint correction last?

That depends on how you care for the vehicle after the work is done. If you wash with good products, clean mitts, and proper technique, you’ll keep that glossy, swirl free look much longer. If you hit automatic brushes and use dirty towels, new defects will show up faster. A lot of customers choose to add ceramic coating afterward, which helps protect the finish and makes it easier to maintain.

  • Is paint correction worth it before ceramic coating?

Yes, if you’re serious about how your car looks, it’s one of the best moves you can make. Ceramic coating will lock in whatever is on the surface, good or bad. When you start with paint correction first, you’re sealing in a clean, sharp finish instead of swirls and haze. You’ll get better gloss, better reflections, and a result that actually looks premium when the job is done.
